BUSTUP AT BOOMTOWN
Reports are coming in from all points of the compass that the Valley Regulators are as busy as bees working on plans for a big jollification next Labour Day weekend.
It appears that the 2019 SASS Canadian National Championships will be held at Boomtown, Vancouver Island, British Columbia from August 30 to September 2, 2019. There will be plenty of rootin' tootin' six-gun shootin' Cowboy Action, along with some truly great grub, and a lot of opportunities for Cowboys and Cowgirls from all over to get together with friends old and new.
These denizens of the Owl Hoot Trail have a well-earned reputation for deviltry, shenanigans, scally-waggin' and all kinds of tom-foolery. Decent i-dottin' and t-crossin' milquetoasts, nannies, ninnies and nincompoops would be well advised to steer clear of those parts.
Those of you who are made of sterner stuff might want to check out the finer details of these up-coming events.
Select from the menu above for a fuller accounting of the various and sundry entertainments planned.
NORTH OF THE BORDER
As if hard-working Cowboys and Cowgirls don't have enough to contend with, news has reached us that the Valley Regulators, who are holed-up in Boomtown, have cooked up another scheme to entice folks to come to Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
They will ALSO be hosting the 2019 SASS Canadian Wild Bunch Championships on August 28 and 29, 2019.
It seems likely that folks who are partial to shootin' those new-fangled .45 calibre, Automatic Colt Pistols, Winchester's fancy-dan pump-action shotguns and their favorite lever guns will be gatherin' in that part of the country gettin' up to their usual capers.
Turn to the North of the Border page if you require more detail.
THE GREAT NORTHERN WAGON TRAIN
Dispatches have arrived at this newspaper describing endeavours to organize a party of like-minded travellers to attempt a traverse of the Saskatchewan Prairies, the Alberta Foothills, the Rocky Mountains and the Strait of Georgia.
Wagoneers will muster in the town of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Two weekends are planned to allow the peripatetic perambulators to hone their skills with firearms, first at the “Last Gasp" match, August 3-4, 2019 then at the SASS Western Canadian Regional Championships, August 7-10, 2019.
After resting and provisioning, the wagon train will set out for Granum, Alberta where “Show Down on the Old MacLeod Trail" will be held at Willow Lane Ranch, August 16-18, 2019.
Members of the expedition would be well advised to make sure they are well found in powder, lead and victuals if they are to attempt the passes of the Rocky Mountains.
Once they have gained the upper reaches of the Fraser River they can follow its course to tide-water at Vancouver. From there they can take passage, via ferry, across the Strait of Georgia to the charming capital city of Victoria. The Victoria Frontier Shootists will be hosting the wayfarers at their 28th annual “HEADQUARTERS" match at the Malahat Range, August 23-26, 2019.
The final leg of the journey will find the peregrinators, up-island, at the Courtenay Fish & Game Boomtown range for “North of the Border" and “Bustup at Boomtown". These two SASS National Championships will mark the culmination of an epic trek. We wish them well.
Those contemplating joining this adventure should turn to the Great Northern Wagon Train page for a list of useful contacts and such cartographical information as is available.
The talk-of-the-town is that the Victoria Frontier Shootists are going to be hosting their 28th annual HEADQUARTERS match from August 23 to 26, 2019.
This is the match that brought Cowboy Action Shooting to Western Canada way back in '91.
This also means there will be three major two-day matches back-to-back-to-back on Vancouver Island.
We're advised that travelers to those parts should be well-armed, carry plenty of ammo and pay particular attention to their haberdashery and any of the local sartorial customs.
Go to the HEADQUARTERS page for a complete compendium of these matters.

THE VALLEY REGULATORS of Courtenay, British Columbia will be hosting the 2019 SASS Canadian National Championships and the 2019 SASS Canadian Wild Bunch Championships, August 28 - Sept 2, 2019. Theses matches will be held at the Boomtown range, one of the finest, most complete Cowboy Action Shooting ranges anywhere.
Events will include a Tex-Mex potluck, Ladies Tea, Cowboy Clays, Wild Bunch and CAS Speed & Accuracy Side Matches, Warm-up Match, Steak Night, Costume Promenade and Judging and Awards Banquets on Saturday and Sunday Nights.
Once again, catering will be provided by the Pickled Carrot Catering Company. These folks catered the 2016 SASS Canadian Nationals and the general consensus was they served up the best danged home-cooked vittles we'd ever eaten.
Look at what our Friends have planned
